For those planning to stay on the Kapiti coast, we recommend booking early, particularly if you plan on staying in the village.
We've put together this spreadsheet, to give you some information on accommodation options in or close to Paekākāriki. This has information drawn from booking sites (Air B and B, Book-a-Bach) as well as Finn's and the Holiday Park.
Almost everywhere in Paekākāriki is within walking distance of the venue, so that is probably the most convenient option.
Finn's is right in the shops of the village and very close to the venue - it has 'standard' studio rooms with balconies that overlook the village street ($175) and 'superior' studio rooms ($205) that also include a double bed settee. You can book here
There is also Paekakariki Holiday Park - this has caravan, motorhome and tent sites, if you're feeling adventurous, but also a range of cabins. If you've got an enormous gang, you could always team and book the lodge which sleeps 30.
There are also some really nice places further up the coast, which may give you and your families more flexibility.
Raumati Beach is approximately a ten minute drive from Paekākāriki, and a taxi would cost approximately $45. There are no public transport options.
Paraparaumu is approximately a fifteen minute drive from Paekākāriki, and a taxi would cost approximately $65. Trains run between Paekākāriki and Paraparaumu village, but note that some of these options are in Paraparaumu beach which is quite a long way from the train station.
Waikanae is approximately a twenty minute drive from Paekākāriki, and a taxi would cost approximately $90. Trains run between Paekākāriki and Waikanae, but again some of these options are in Waikanae Beach which is quite a long way form the train station.
We understand that Paraparaumu Taxis services Paraparaumu, Raumati, and Waikanae, if you're planning to drink. We recommend booking a taxi ahead of time just to be safe.
